Technical Project Manager

CompuCredit, a leader in providing financial products to underserved markets, is seeking a Technical Project Manager for its Valued Services Financial Holdings subsidiary.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Work with the business, technical team and product managers to ensure that key project objectives and deliverables are implemented, on-time and on budget
* Leading and implementing process improvements within the software Engineering organization
* Establishing and reporting metrics for the delivery of Software projects, project costs, and the quality of project deliverables
* Manage and facilitate risk management, change management and issues resolution process, including escalation to the appropriate level
* Define and manage resources, project plans, scope, issues, risks and achieve key milestones for multiple projects
* Work closely with resource managers to identify resource needs and staff projects appropriately
* Provide internal and external reporting of progress on all project milestones
* Coordinate and facilitate status meetings
* Facilitates scope definition by writing charters, statements of work, business cases and managing the process of documenting requirements
* Responsible for capturing and publishing project level meeting notes
* Tracks project budget

COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS:

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem solver
* Experience focusing an organization on process improvements, defining repeatable processes, and establishing consistent delivery artifacts
* Proficient in MS Project, MS Office and Visio
* Understanding of UML and use case development
* Solid understanding of iterative Software Development (i.e. Agile)
* Extensive experience managing projects using a defined technology delivery framework (i.e. Struts, Pega, Chordiant)
* Extensive experience managing projects using a standard iterative development methodology (i.e., RUP, MSF), including: Requirements Management, Software Project Planning, Software Project Tracking and Oversight, Subcontract Management, and Software Quality Assurance efforts.
* Experience in CMMI Acquisition, including:
-Identification of process strengths, weaknesses and risks
-Performing gap analysis against the desired maturity levels
-Creation and implementation of process improvement plans
-Assisting in annual appraisals of organizational maturity
* Experience implementing Six Sigma process improvements in the areas of:
-Requirements definition
-Metrics and Measures
-Team Involvement
-Continuous Improvement

PREFERRED SKILLS:

* Six Sigma Green Belt or Higher
* PMP Certification
* Proficient in the use of Enterprise Portfolio Management Tools (CompuWare Changepoint, CA Clarity)
* Financial services and/or credit card experience

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

* BS or BA degree in a related field required, unless there is significant, relevant work experience

EXPERIENCE:

* 5 + years technical project management experience
* 3 + years continuous process improvement
* 7-10+ years work experience

This role will work closely with key departmental and project stakeholders across the organization. Therefore, the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of management and staff within the organization is a key priority in this role.
