Vice President Portfolio Analytics

We are actively seeking a Vice President of Portfolio Analytics for the Investment Management division. The Investment Management division serves the buyside and includes such leading brands as Thomson ONE for Investment Management, Thomson ONE Analytics, Datastream, First Call, Baseline, Vestek, and PORTIA, among others.
We are seeking someone with 5-10 years of experience establishing and promoting the short and long term strategy, product roadmap, and go-to-market plan in the portfolio analytics space. The portfolio analytics space encompasses portfolio profiling, performance measurement and attribution, historical and go-forward risk analysis, and optimization.
The Vice President is responsible for Thomson Financial?s franchise activities in the portfolio analytics space, from inception to launch to full commercialization. While other functions may be charged with executing, the role of the Vice President is to ensure that activities are aligned and objectives are shared. The selected candidate will lead the division in: Defining the competitive environment and Thomson?s commercial priorities Understanding market and customer needs around content, workflow and applications Creating and articulating a product and service roadmap and marketing strategy that delivers value to customers relative to price Working cross-functionally to drive day-to-day development and service execution Managing legacy offerings and revenue streams to maximize retention and/or migrate customers to new productsThe Vice President should interact with the industry by being visible at seminars and events, and serve as Thomson?s expert in portfolio analytics and have active engagement with customers and prospects. The role includes direct management of 15-20 staff, oversight of a multi-million dollar book-of-business, and a multi-offering suite.
The ideal candidate will possess firsthand knowledge and experience in evaluating institutional portfolio performance and in successfully bringing portfolio analytics and tools to market. We are seeking candidates with 2-5 years experience on the buyside as a portfolio assistant, portfolio analyst, performance analyst, or quantitative analyst, as well as experience in designing and developing analytic and workflow solutions to automate portfolio analyses.
The incumbent of this role will initiate and pursue initiatives in alignment and coordination with the management team of the Investment Management division. As such formal / informal communication, teamwork, cross-functional relationship building, and industry networking are highly valued. Independent thinking and action are also critical skills in understanding competitive opportunities, motivating staff and peers, and pursuing solutions to challenges.
QualificationsBachelor's Degree, Master preferred 5-10 years in the financial industry, investment management and/or portfolio analytics space 5+ years in product or segment management, business development, franchise management and/or marketingThis position may be based in New York, Boston or San Francisco and requires +/-50 percent travel domestic and abroad.
