Vice President Controller

Co-Op Financial Services, the nations largest credit union EFT network and processor is looking for a Vice President Controller for its Ontario, Ca office.  The successful candidate will have Bachelor?s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and five to seven years related experience is required, CPA or MBA desired.  This position will be directly responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting Department.

 

SUMMARY

Directs financial activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Plans, directs and coordinates all accounting and finance operational functions.

 

Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.

 

Assesses current accounting operations, makes recommendations for improvement, and implements necessary changes.

 

Evaluates accounting and internal control systems to ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and best industry practices.

 

Manages budgeting, forecasting and variance reporting processes for corporate division and assists with overall budget consolidation.

 

Oversees multiple state regulatory reporting.

 

Directs external auditor activities.

 

Researches new accounting pronouncements for application to existing accounting reporting requirements.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to effectively communicate in oral and written form to subordinate staff, senior management team, and financial institutions as appropriate to the level of responsibility.  Must process knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles.  Strong knowledge of PC based accounting software, spreadsheets and word processing essential.
