ASSOCIATE/SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNER

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS),?parent agency of MTS?Bus (San Diego Transit Corporation, the largest provider of public bus service) and MTS Rail (San Diego Trolley, Inc. operator of the light rail transit system),??is accepting resumes for the position of Associate/Senior Transportation Planner - Service Planning until filled.?

This individual will perform responsible, professional transportation planning work, concentrating on service planning, performance monitoring, and data collection activities.?

The Associate/Senior Transportation Planner - Service Planning recommends and develops planning, performance monitoring and data collection activities to efficiently and effectively monitor the operating system to achieve agency goals; evaluates performance of existing services, identifying trends that should be further analyzed; conducts evaluations of bus and light rail service and recommend improvements to transit service quality, productivity and efficiency; presents oral and written reports to governmental bodies, private organizations and the general public.?

Must be able to foster collaborative and productive working relationships with staff and other partner agencies in San Diego County such as, Caltrans, SANDAG and other transit properties; establish and maintain priorities to complete assignments by deadlines without detailed instructions; advanced level of competence in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.? A working knowledge of SPSS, ArcMap and Access software is preferred.

To be considered for the Senior position a qualified candidate must have the demonstrated ability to coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement decisions and delegate responsibilities to appropriate personnel and effectively supervise subordinates to achieve company goals.

Candidate must possess a college degree in transportation planning, engineering, geography, urban studies or a related field.? At an Associate level a qualified individual will have two years of full-time professional work experience in transit planning and/or transit operations with increasing responsibility over the two-year period.? Senior level requires four years of full-time professional work experience in transit planning and/or transit operations with increasing responsibilities.? Advanced degrees may be substituted for years of experience.

Salary Grade for Associate:?? $40,452 - $62,770

Salary Grade for Senior:??????? $59,772 - $91,840
