Assistant Director of State Legislation

The Illinois Farm Bureau is seeking an Assistant Director of State Legislation to work between our corporate office in Bloomington, IL and our Springfield, IL office.  Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing legislation for effects on IAA Policy; Preparing detailed analysis of legislation, fact sheets, and recommend Farm Bureau legislative positions to the IAA Board of Directors; Appear as Legislative Liaison on behalf of the IAA before General Assembly, Executive Branch, agencies, boards and commission hearings, committee meetings, task forces and other events; Contact members of the General Assembly and the Executive Branch on the organization?s positions and policy on various state legislative proposals and issues; Attend the General Assembly session; Work with Farm Bureau members and County Farm Bureaus to facilitate their involvement in the state legislative program; Assist in the staffing of the grassroots review process by IAA members for the ACTIVATOR Political Involvement fund.

 

Qualifications include:

 

-Candidates must possess minimum of a Bachelor?s degree

-Two or more years of professional experience preferred

-Strong analytical skills

-Knowledge of political and legislative processes and experience in regulatory analysis beneficial

-Proven ability to give oral presentations both one-on-one and to groups

-Strong ability to prepare written documents in clear and concise manner

-Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook preferred 

-Travel will be required for this position.
