DIRECTOR, GRANTS & CONTRACTS
Under direction from the Vice President, Grants and Contracts Management, supervise Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) activities in Arcadia; collaborate with Children?s Oncology Group (COG), Finance, Principal Investigators and Institutional Officials in the compilation, regulatory compliance review, final approval and submission of grant applications, progress, regulatory and financial reporting for research funding to federal, private and corporate sponsors; monitor compliance with federal regulatory requirements; supervise the communication process with subcontractors for negotiating and administering subcontracts and promptly resolving subcontractor issues; and provide support to the Vice President, Grants and Contracts Management, as requested.
Position Requirements BA degree in Business, Accounting or relevant discipline from an accredited college; an advanced degree ideal, or equivalent combination of related experience and education working directly with federal award processing; 7 to 10 years plus of federal grants and/or contracts management experience, including financial management, budget management and proposal preparation; 7 years of grant review and submission experience; preferably with NIH grants in a major research university.Practical working experience of NIH/NCI grants regulations.Ability to use discretion and judgment, competent in independent management; work independently within Office of Sponsored Programs policies and guidelines. Ability to organize, oversee and perform multiple tasks, delegate priorities and meet deadlines.Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, OMB Circulars A-21, A-122, A-133 and NIH Policy Guide, as applicable to grants and contracts, is mandatory;Advanced knowledge of related grantee business activities, business communications, and basic knowledge of accounting principles; ability to analyze complex data, form sound conclusions and exercise business acumen to frame and creatively solve business issues.Experience and knowledge with government grants and contract applications, budgets, proposal preparation, review and submission; ability to effectively evaluate project costing.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Access and other database systems). Working knowledge of Internet/Intranet databasesExcellent supervisory, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; ability to organize, perform multiple tasks and to set priorities; exceptional customer service/interpersonal skills;Proven verbal and written communication skills for internal and external communication; excellent skills in written and spoken English; proven skills with exceptional spelling and grammar required, with advanced editing and proofreading skills.
