SENIOR TRANSPORTATION MODELER ? Take advantage of this unique opportunity to advance your career at the Denver Regional Council of Governments, in one of the most dynamic planning environments in the US today:We?re one of a handful of regional planning organizations in the US building a disaggregate, activity-based travel model for near-term application, a project that is generating interest across the travel modeling profession.The region has secured funding to build over 100 miles of rapid transit during the next decade.Local governments throughout the region are focusing on transit-oriented development planning, associated with the expansion of the rapid transit system.Our existing model is a fully-automated, TransCAD-based four-step model.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical orientation and background, including computer programming skills (VB, Java, C++ or similar), database programming, and mathematics (calculus, statistics, etc.), and a strong knowledge of regional modeling and transportation planning.  Experience with TransCAD and the GISDK scripting language, and with GIS software is preferred.  MS/MA in transportation engineering, urban planning, operations research, applied mathematics, computer science or similar, with intermediate curriculum in travel modeling theory and practice is preferred, together with three years of travel modeling experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
