Trade Compliance Specialist

Scientific Atlanta is applying a half-century of innovations to today's convergence of the PC and the TV and helping to extend multimedia broadband applications to new platforms via interactive broadband networks, set-tops and cable modems.  We are currently seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist at our Lawrenceville, GA location.

 

TRADE COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

 

The Trade Compliance Specialist will be an integral part of the Worldwide Trade Compliance Department helping to ensure that all import and export compliance requirements of Cisco/Scientific Atlanta (The Company) and its operations are met and all programs and activities comply with all applicable government laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those of the US Department of Commerce, US Department of State, US Department of Treasury and Customs Services around the world.  The responsibilities of this position focus on ensuring that The Company is in compliance with all import and export regulations and laws globally.  This position requires a highly motivated, assertive person with strong interpersonal and communication skills.  The candidate must be able to make decisions quickly with confidence and have proven leadership skills.  The candidate must be able to work well in a team environment and handle the ever changing priorities of worldwide trade compliance.  Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

 Classification of a wide range of products with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) Qualification of products for NAFTA and other Free Trade Agreements Communication with Procurement and suppliers to obtain country of origin/NAFTA certificates on all purchased parts Completion of NAFTA certificates of origin Completion of Customs? inquiries Maintenance and support of compliance data in automated import/export software Analysis and reporting of duty payments monthly Contact with brokers and government agencies Determine license requirements of telecommunications and electronic products and ensure requirements are met before product is exported

 

Required Experience:BS/BA degree in business administration or international studiesDegreed candidate must have a minimum of 3 years industry experience Non degreed candidate must have 5 years industry experience3 years of experience with Export Regulations and Customer Regulations3 years of demonstrated experience with import/export procedures and documentation3 years of experience with import and export product classifications for U.S., Mexico, Canada and Europe

 

Preferred Skills:

? Knowledge of NAFTA and Mexico/EU Free Trade Agreement rules of origin/qualification processes

? US Customer Broker?s License a plus
