JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Title: Clinical Consultant

 

Position Objective:

 

The purpose of this position is to  link hospitals charge master, sub-system, resource master and order entry system line items to corresponding records in NRS Knowledgebase for assigned departments.

 

Primary Job Functions: (To link items within each area: Laboratory, Respiratory, Radiology, Cath Lab and Rehab Services/PT, OT, ST).

 

Gain understanding of a clients hospitals charge structure.

 

Conduct telephone interviews as scheduled.

 

Map assigned charge master departments, review queries and prepare and send questions to team leaders.

 

Review mapping queries including duplicate description, uncoded items with volume, factor, modifier, CPT, UB and other as needed to assure accurate mapping (prior to Telephone interview).

 

Coordinate project flow with team members, interview coordinator and manager.

 

Communicate directly with client hospital department managers to understand/clarify charging methodology.

 

Communicate charge master related issues to team leader and manager.

 

Document mapping concerns and make assessable on the network.

 

Recommend changes to the NRS Knowledgebase. 

 

Perform analysis to ensure accurate linking.

 Completes special projects as assigned.

 

Minimum Knowledge and Qualifications:

 

Hospital experience required in one or more of the following areas:

Laboratory, Respiratory, Radiology, Cath Lab and Rehab Services/PT, OT, ST).

 

Certificate from college or technical school or 5 years related experience or training or equivalent combination.

 

Clinical experience required.  Certification preferred.

 

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and employees.

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

Ability to understand basic financial management, such as the difference between revenue and expenses.

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Ability to multi-task.

 

Ability to manage daily tasks and projects to conclusion.  Clearly understands the priorities of the department and makes adjustments to tasks as appropriate.

 

Ability to work as an effective member of a department?s team.  Position requires working with member of other departments to achieve a common goal.  Interacts often with customers, composes communication pieces that are sent outside the company.

 

Ability to identify an issue that requires compliance to an outside law or internal process

 

Must possess the technical skills listed below:MicroSoft Word ? intermediateMicroSoft Excel ? intermediateMicroSoft Access ? intermediate 

 

Position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time working on a computer.  Must be able to communicate verbally and respond to instructions given verbally.  No lifting required.
