Job Description
Job Title: Compliance Officer
Reports To: President
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: MPRI's Compliance Officer shall oversee and be responsible for implementation of MPRI's compliance activities. The Compliance Officer will report to the President and CEO and, ultimately, to MPRI's Board of Managers. To ensure that the compliance officer is able to assume and execute these responsibilities, the Compliance Officer shall have the support of MPRI's Board of Managers and the President and CEO, and shall be provided appropriate resources.
The Compliance Officer shall have the authority to review all documents and other information that is relevant to compliance activities, including, but not limited to, medical records, billing records, audit results, marketing efforts and arrangements with health care providers, including physicians and independent contractors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Overseeing and monitoring implementation of the Compliance Plan;
Creating and maintaining all written records related to and required by the Compliance Plan, including, but not limited to, employee training materials, employee training records, documentation of complaints, investigations and resulting action;
Reporting on a regular basis to the President and CEO and the Board of Manager on the progress of implementation, and working to establish methods to improve MPRI's efficiency and quality of services and to reduce MPRI's vulnerability to fraud, abuse, and waste;
Advising the Board of Managers with regard to required revisions to the Compliance Plan;
Developing, coordinating and participating in an educational and training program that focuses on the elements of the Compliance Plan, and ensuring that all Staff understand and comply with the Compliance Plan;
Ensuring that independent contractors and agents who furnish physician, nursing, or other health care services to MPRI patients are aware of the requirements of the Compliance Plan applicable to the services they provide;
Coordinating with MPRI's Human Resources Director on compliance related personnel issues;
Assisting MPRI's financial management in coordinating internal compliance review and monitoring activities;
In coordination with the President and CEO, investigating and acting upon matters related to compliance, including designing and coordinating internal investigations in response to reports of suspected violations and any related corrective action, including, but not limited to, making necessary improvements to MPRI policies and procedures;
Participating with the President and CEO and legal counsel in the appropriate reporting of violations of program requirements; and
Continuing to monitor the effectiveness of the Compliance Plan after implementation.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrable experience with Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement rules, regulations and practices.Ability to work independently and achieve results and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
