Job Title: Director of Finance
Job Location: Santa Rosa, CA
Job Summary: Provide a brief summary of the work performed under minimal
supervision. Manages assigned department(s) to provide safe, effective,
and appropriate care in a fiscally responsible manner through direction,
support, and development of supervisors and/or assistant managers and
staff, and through collaboration with medical staff, other
hospital directors and administrative staff. Building on the hospital's
mission, the department Director creates a clear vision for future and
defines the values that underlie the day to day activities of assigned
departments.

Essential Functions:
1. Assures culture that focuses on continuously improving performance to
meet the needs and expectations of patients and other users of hospital
services.
1.1 Assures that department's standards (structure and process) are
current, appropriate, and followed consistently.
1.2 Assures a safe and efficient work environment for employees.
1.3 Holds all Department staff accountable for their performance.
1.4 Responds to customer complaints and responds appropriately.
1.5 Utilizes hospital process to monitor quality, customer satisfaction
and improve systems.
1.6 Facilitates implementation of new technology, products, and supplies to
provide for an efficient work place and maximize productivity.
1.7 Assures integration of department service into the overall
organization's system for coordination and delivery of financial services.
2. Demonstrates excellence in communication skills.
2.1 Acts as a liaison by effectively involving medical staff, other
departments or stakeholders.
2.2 Assures availability of staff meetings to facilitate communication and
provide information and a mechanism for employee feedback, input with
decision making and rapport.
2.3 Effectively communicates appropriate information to foster
communication and collaboration among individuals and departments.
2.4 Maintains accessibility for 1.1 communication with staff and provides
avenue for appropriate follow-up.

3. Assumes responsibility and accountability for fiscal management of
departments in collaboration with staff and physicians.
3.1 Formulates, presents, and defends annual budget (including personnel,
supplies, resources, and space) based on assessments of departments'
resources, programs and projected needs.
3.2 Monitors budget, analyzes variances using data and documents
justification and corrective action to be taken to adhere to budget.
3.3 Analyzes trends, identifies opportunities and implements changes in
systems or technology to improve efficiency, productivity, and decrease
costs.
3.4 Implements changes in systems or technology to increase efficiency,
productivity, and promote cost containment.
3.5 Promotes staff understanding and involvement with fiscal management of
department.
3.6 Selects, manages and evaluates outcomes for contract services.
4. Operationalizes the hospital vision and values in teaching and coaching
staff (licensed and unlicensed) to ensure staff competency. Holds staff
accountable for their performance.
4.1 Develops, with staff input, appropriate standards of performance
(required qualifications, job description, performance standards, and
annual competencies).
4.2 Assures employee performance is evaluated at end of probation and
annually against approved standards.
4.3 Develops a department specific orientation plan for new employees and
assures employees complete orientation.
4.4 Assesses departmental staff development needs and facilitates staff
education programs for mandatory compliance and ongoing staff
development, retention and continuing education (staff and students).
4.5 Identifies and facilitates resolution of discrepancies between
performance
and standards through coaching, counseling, feedback, and use of the
disciplinary process.
4.6 Provides appropriate resource material for professional development.
4.7 Provides and supports opportunities to enhance professional and
personal growth and development of employees.
4.8 Assures appropriate department human resources and staffing (skill mix
competency).
5. Creates the strategic, operational, programmatic and other
plans/policies to achieve the mission and vision in an efficient and
effective department.
5.1 Translates organizational changes into daily departmental operation.
5.2 CommunicatesCommunicates changes with accompanying rationale and
solicits input in an effective manner with people whom the change affects
(e.g., physicians, staff, other departments).
5.3 Proposes, seeks approval, implements, and evaluates changes in
departmental functions.
5.4 Encourages staff participation in hospital and department vision and
values.
5.5 Organizes, directs, and controls department(s) operations to meet
organizational and department goals.
5.6 Sets priorities, plans, and organizes multiple projects to meet goals
within agreed-upon time frames.
5.7 Collaborates with other relevant persons in decision making.
5.8 Performs periodic follow-up to assure actual implementation of change
and its effect on the department and organization.
5.9 Models confidence, flexibility and creativity to implement effective
change.

Position Qualifications:
? Education Baccalaureate Degree required
? Experience Two years experience in an acute health care setting and one year in
position where management skills have been practiced and proven.
May be required to meet licensure and additional certification
requirements in specialty areas as outlined in department.
