Grants Administrator – Physiology

There is a regular FT position (70 hours biweekly) available in the Physiology Department for a Grants Administrator. This is a multi-faceted position within the University, with an emphasis on oversight and accounting of all receipts and expenditures related to Physiology department funds, research grants and contracts. The Grants Administrator will also serve as time-keeper, petty cash agent and will make arrangements for visiting scientists.

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Meeting with the Chair and business manager to set up individual budget spreadsheets for department accounts.Meeting with Faculty to set up their research grant and contracts accounts.Giving preliminary approval of transactions based on funds available.Initiating purchases.Reviewing and accounting for all expenditures.Reconciling records with those provided by Accounts Payable.Initiating, reviewing and accounting for purchases made with procurement cards.Tracking receipt of items purchased.Providing summary of all accounts to the Chair on a monthly basis. Serving as timekeeper for all employees.Managing petty cash, and ordering honoraria.Reserving hotels and travel for invited speakers.

 

To qualify:High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.Five (5) or more years accounting experience, particularly with grants, is also required. Demonstrated computer proficiency, especially with word processing and spreadsheets.Very detail-oriented to ensure accuracy. Knowledge of Jefferson systems is highly desirable.
