Hospital Medi-Cal Eligibility Specialist

Eligibility Plus Inc., works with many facilities to help patients who have no insurance, or whose insurance benefits have been exhausted, apply for Medi-Cal or other government programs.  We also work with our clients to help them recover monies owed after insurance has paid.

EPI currently has positions available in Orange County, Long Beach, Barstow and North San Diego County.  We are currently looking for someone with the following qualifications

 

Qualifications:

 BILINGUAL - SPANISH Prior experience with hospital business office Experience as a Patient Financial Counselor preferred Medi-Cal/Medicaid eligibility or other government program experience Excellent Oral and written communication skills, as well as customer service skills required. Strong Data Entry and PC Skills in such programs as MS Word and Excel are preferred Excellent analytical and organizational skills are essential.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 Interview patient for Medi-Cal/Medicaid Eligibility or other government programs Complete necessary Medi-cal/Medicaid applications and submit to the appropriate offices Field visits to patient homes to obtain applications and documentation Contact case workers on a daily basis for claim status Learn Government Programs and be able to identify for the patient the programs they might be eligible for Work with Medicaid and Medi-cal caseworkers to obtain necessary information for patient's eligibility Follow-up with patients when necessary to obtain appropriate documentation Follow-up with insurance carriers to verify eligibility Complete client charity applications Ability to participate in the setting of daily, weekly and monthly goals and meeting those goals Review documentation in client and company systems for accuracy.  Note required correspondence Document both systems with clear and concise language to include proper status codes.  Make sure all documention is completed within contract terms Participate actively in meetings to help build a cohesive team by responding to inquiries, making recommendations, sharing observations and respecting other team member's input Ability to maintain communication with Patients and Clients professionally Follow-up on provider requests accurately and expeditiously to process standards Problem solve and research Request Skip Traces when necessary using the appropriate documentation Handle all telephone calls in an efficient manner by maintaining clear and concise communication.
