Junior Research Analyst - Healthcare

McKinsey?s North American Knowledge Center (NAKC), located in Waltham, MA (20 minutes west of Boston), provides business research and analytic support to McKinsey consultants.  The North American Payor Provider (NAPP) practice housed within NAKC, is looking for a Junior Research Analyst to provide in-depth, distinctive, and innovative research about the North American health care sector which includes areas of health insurance, provider metrics health benefits, and clinical metrics.  All areas of US healthcare other than the pharmaceutical industry.

Responsibilities include:

? Delivering in-depth research, analytical approaches, insight into the practical implications of their analysis, and client-ready end products.

? Serving as a knowledgeable ?thought partner?, able to engage successfully on problem solving and on NAPP knowledge creation initiatives. Either may involve being staffed on a project.

? Developing effective knowledge sharing, an extensive external network, and the broad awareness of best practice external knowledge on healthcare

Requirements include:Basic understanding of the U.S. healthcare sector, notably current trends, key product characteristics and major players.Preferred experience in the sector, such as in hospital administration, nursing, or business experience at a health insurance or other health care company that would require in-depth understanding of the sector.Strong intrinsic skills and a first rate academic undergraduate degree from a respected institution with excellent academic performance.Possess:

o Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills, as well as curiosity and a passion for research

o Superb people skills, strong team-orientation, and a professional attitude

o First rate written and verbal communication skills ? including the ability to interact effectively at all levels of a large organization
