MEDICAL INSURANCE INTAKE SPECIALIST

Healix, is a national leader in providing high-tech pharmaceutical services in physician-office based outpatient infusion therapy settings. This rapidly growing Sugar Land, Texas based company is currently seeking a Medical Insurance Intake Specialist. This dynamic candidate will perform insurance verification of medical benefits and all aspects of coverage determination.

 

Primary duties include the following:

 

?  Performs insurance benefits verification in accordance with Healix procedures on each patient scheduled for admission.

?  Performs pre-certification and obtains authorizations and referrals as required by payor guidelines and in accordance with Healix procedures.

?  Completes a paper record of all verification, pre-certification, and referral request.

?  Reviews all physician change of orders and contact insurance pre-certification departments or case managers as required.

?  Enters all new patients accurately in the Patient Management database, and record appropriate insurance and authorizations in the database.

?  Reviews orders to ensure the appropriate insurance carrier coverage criteria has been satisfied as required by payor guidelines and in accordance with Healix procedures.

?  Notifies the Supervisor when orders in the referral tracking system may experience delays in the completion

?  Monitors or performs the completion of re-verification orders that are due to expire in the referral tracking system within 72 hours, as assigned.



 

Qualifications:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
