Patient Biller V, Supervisor

This is a full-time career position in the  UC Davis Health System,  Professional Billing Group, Central Support Unit, located in Sacramento, working hours  7:30a.m. ? 4:00p.m., Monday-Friday.  This classification is not represented by a union.

 

Responsibilities: This position is directly responsible for the supervision of Billing Specialist and Follow-up staff that bill State, Federal and Commercial Insurance claims as well as specialized billing such as the CCS HIV Screening Program. This position also has supervisory responsibility for the secondary billing, scanning and indexing of documents.

 

Requirements:  Previous supervisory experience is required.  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.  Ability to supervise, instruct and review work of departmental employees. Must have strong Billing and Systems skills. Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with employees and Administration. Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with patients, physicians, and the general public.  Analytical skills to review all available information, draw conclusions, develop reports and evaluate alternatives, select solution and monitor progress.  Writing skills to effectively compose internal and external correspondence, communicate with other units within the department. Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure in order to meet deadlines set by the department, government programs, or private insurance carriers.  Knowledge of medical billing/reimbursement requirements and procedures, including government programs, private third-party insurance and private individuals.  Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Disease (ICD-9) policies related to medical billing.  Knowledge of medical terminology in order to correlate reports to actual charges and to determine appropriateness of denials.  Knowledge of word processing software and spreadsheets.
