Pre-determination Specialist

The Predetermination specialist is responsible for assessing, entering and maintaining patient referrals. Verify all required documentation has been received and contact patient (s) via phone to discuss payor category, financial responsibility and date of surgery. Process notification letters and mail to physicians and patients within selected timelines, complete patient contracts, discuss payment plans with patient, and collect co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance from patients prior to scheduling for procedure. Follow up with patients after procedure to collect balances. Prepare formal documentation and submit to insurance companies as needed and complete follow-up calls with insurance companies at specified intervals or until a determination is received. Update notes in company billing system for all account activity. Schedule weekly conference calls with field representatives and physician offices to discuss patient accounts. Send confirmation emails to all techs once conference calls are complete. Return all phone calls and reply to all emails within 24 hours. Qualifications :
Knowledge of health care and medical practices, Office computer software packages, including spreadsheets and word processing. Excellent customer service skills, oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work as a team member. Good problem solving skills also required.
