Sr Data Analyst KPIC - Oakland, CA
PURPOSE: The Senior Data Analyst position is based in Oakland, CA and supports the business community needs for data collection, analysis, and reporting from a variety of sources including mainframe files, data warehouse reports, and vendor extracts. This position will collect, organize, and analyze data for easy use by internal business and analytical clients, and serve as an expert on data availability and quality. In addition, this position will maintain close working relationships with all vendors and regional contacts.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and organize data for easy use by internal business and analytical clients. Possible data sources include mainframe files, data warehouse reports, vendor extracts, departmental spreadsheets and databases, and internet/intranet sites.
- Analyst will be an expert on data availability and quality.
- Ensure the integrity of all data for the purposes of maintaining regulatory compliance, communicating all data problems directly to the vendors and regional contacts for proper claims payment and revenue collection, as well as internal auditing and reporting.
- Create and/or maintain databases as a tool for delivering data to internal clients.
- Proven ability to hear customer business requirements and translate those needs into a final product.
- Apply healthcare business knowledge to analyze data, create reports and solve problems.
- This position will act independently in creating data extracts and reports, and involving the client in setting parameters and determining format of final delivery. Analyst will consult independently with a variety of users and analysts.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in healthcare, finance, information systems or related area.
- Six or more years of report writing experience, preparing financial, accounting or utilization reports within the healthcare industry
- Two or more years of experience reporting off large databases or data warehouses and expert understanding of the data relationships within these. Knowledge of internet, intranet, mainframe, and PC environments.
- Proven ability to work with customers to understand business requirements and translate those needs into a final product.
- Proficiency with PC-based query and report writing tools such as MS Access or Crystal Reports; expert knowledge of spreadsheet and database programs, particularly Microsoft Excel and Access; understanding of relational databases and data integrity; working knowledge of Visual Basic preferred.
- Understanding of financial information systems.
