Support Clerk
PATIENT SUPPORT CLERK
DESCRIPTION: This position requires an employee to receive, process encounters and collect payments. This position requires an individual with experience in dealing with the public and managing cash flow for services rendered.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS
High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
Bilingual, English and Spanish, preferred.
Creole speaking required.
Previous clerical and cashier experience preferred.
Previous experience in a position dealing with the public required.
Minimum of two years experience with an interactive computer system preferred. Typing 35 wpm.
REPORTING/SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP
Reports to: Patient Support Supervisor
Supervise: N/A
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Check appointments list to verify appointment and medical record availability.
Direct patient to the appropriate waiting area after completing chart processing.
Provide patients requesting copies of their Health Information Chart with an Authorization Release Form and forward it to Health Information Management Department.
4. Collect payment for clinical visit according to established fee schedule.
Process and print a Route Slip/Encounter form. Post payment to patient?s account.
Request a patient chart with a manual slip to Health Information Management Department.
The medical chart is taken to the appropriate nursing department.
Collect payment for money owed from previous visits and provide patient with appropriate receipt.
Post laboratory procedures and Collect money for the services based on fee schedule. Then Stamp requisitions "PAID".
Data enter patient?s procedure and diagnosis into the computer system.
Count money at 11:30 AM and submit to Accounts receivable department. Count money at end of day, balance the day?s deposit with computer report, and submit to Patient Support Supervisor.
13. Promptly answer all incoming calls and deliver to the appropriate individual/department.
Responsible for maintaining abreast of and in compliance with all HIPAA regulations and requirements.
15. Perform other related duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
PATIENT SUPPORT CLERK
PERSONAL GROWTH AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Attend appropriate in service training and staff meetings.
Participate in TQM activities.
