Lab Supervisor I

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Assigns, oversees, and reviews the work of employees. Directs all phases of work, quality, service, and costs; and performs tests or assays as required. Leveling criteria applies. Additional duties include but not limited to the following:
Possesses the knowledge of validation, clinical utility and result configurations of all Molecular assays being performed in the molecular oncology department.
Establish and monitor scheduling of staffing resources to testing demand.
Involved in daily management of case processing.
Responsible for acute management of case flow problems. 
Able to perform laboratory duties in the event that personnel is/are absent to ensure efficient workflow.
Able to review cases for sign-out.
Oversees the case flow to ensure that all cases are properly documented to resolution.
Assist in the monitoring of test development processes within the laboratory.
Brings chronic and complex problems to the attention of the manager or director for problem resolution.  
Involved in the implementation of the QC, QA and QI programs in the department.
Responsible for hands on training and retraining of technologists and technicians. 
Involved in the Performance Evaluation program of employees within the Molecular laboratory.
Involved in the interview process of new employee candidates for the Molecular Laboratory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

License/Certification/Education: Bachelor?s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science. Must meet meet CLIA requirements.Additional requirements include:
2 ? 4 years pertinent full time experience in clinical Molecular genetics
2 years supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory
CLS licensure in the State of California or CLS limited licensure in Molecular Genetics required
