We currently have a career opportunity for a Laboratory Supervisor for the Automated Chemistry Department in our Baltimore, MD location for the Night Shift. The successful candidate will oversee and supervise the efficient operation and designated activities of the department, make clinically sound decisions with respect to department functions, and advocate quality laboratory practices.

Specific responsibilities include:
Oversee medical technologists, medical technicians, and lab assistants
Assist in directing and coordinating all technical and non-technical activities in the Automated Chemistry Department.
Oversee laboratory tests performed by medical technicians and technologists, performing occasional testing when necessary
Ensure that all tests are performed in accordance with state and federal requirements
Monitor productivity of department and ensure appropriate test turn-around time
Monitor proficiency testing, quality control records, maintenance records and adherence to standard operating procedures
Prepare staffing schedule
Write new technical procedures based on evaluation of new/modified techniques
Evaluate employees using the performance development and review process

Our ideal candidate will possess a BS, MT, and ASCP, as well as 4 ? 6 years of experience. Additional qualifications include:
Ability to multi-task with demonstrated flexibility
Works occasional overtime, on-call, weekends and holidays as needed
Must be accurate and detail-oriented worker
Flexible to scheduling needs and willing to work in other departments as needed
Demonstrates willingness and flexibility in emergency situations and responds to critical business needs
Promotes positive, fair, and open environment, while not contributing to an atmosphere of negativity
Rated ?Achieves Expectations? or higher for the last three years.
Extensive experience in a clinical laboratory of high complexity in appropriate specialty area
