Organize and prioritize workload by following laboratory policy & procedures in the following areas:

1. COAGULATION
2. BLOOD BANKING
3. MICROBIOLOGY
4. CHEMISTRY
5. HEMATOLOGY

? Follow all safety and infection control guidelines.
? Know proper handling of specimens/reagents/controls/calibrators and their requirements.
? Record patient data accurately.
? Know when operation problems occur and course of action to correct them.
? Perform maintenance on all instruments.
? Perform & document appropriate quality control as required by CRMC laboratory guidelines.
? Apply corrective action follow up reports when necessary.
? Know when to repeat an analyte before reporting to the physician.
? Keep manager informed of all problems with machine operation, test calibration, QC, patients results and supplies issues.
? Keep calibration and reagent logs up to date.
? Help inventory by keeping track of expiration dates of reagents, controls, ca1ibrators and supplies.
? Perform and record preventative maintenance as required (daily, weekly and monthly).
? Follow procedure manual on plating specific types of cultures on correct media.
? Perform gram stains on specimens and report out preliminary reports.
? Perform procedures (typing/screening/crossmatches) involved with a blood transfusion by following policy and procedure.
