THE FACILITY   Located along the beautiful Gulf Coast is a 300-bed, state of the art hospital with a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. Services at this community hospital provide a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services that include a specialized cardiac care program; a highly respected Orthopedic Program; and an active General Surgery-Vascular Program. Other services include outpatient testing, full service radiology, critical care, laboratory services and a skilled nursing unit within the hospital. Board Certified Emergency Physicians provide services in our Emergency Care Center treating more than 26,000 patients annually.  National recognition includes 4-Star Excellence rating in Patient Satisfaction for the Cardiac Step-Down Unit and a 5-Star Excellence rating in Patient Satisfaction for Emergency Care services at the hospital, both awarded by Professional Research Corporation. The Hospital?s Orthopedic Program has been recognized as among the Top 100 Orthopedic Programs in the country and, for the past two years, received 5-Star recognition from HealthGrades, Inc. for hip and knee replacements putting this Medical Center?s program in the top 5% in the nation and top five programs in the State of Florida. Achieving national recognition attests to the dedication of the medical staff, employees and volunteers, and the confidence the patrons continue to have in the Hospital.

  THE COMMUNITY

One of the few carefully planned cities in the United States, this beautiful town is artistically landscaped with palms, flowers, silver trumpet trees, live oaks and pines.  It is now a Florida Main Street City, a designation awarded by the State of Florida for Historic Preservation.  From a small fishing village to a destination for vacationers, a haven for retirees and young families alike, it has evolved into a thriving town.

County schools received the top ranking of ?Gold Medal?, earning a place among the top 17 percent of 2,800 U.S. school districts surveyed by Expansion Management magazine. The county was the only school district in Florida to receive the gold medal rating, according to survey results published in the magazine?s December 2004 issue.  Money Magazine placed this county's schools in the "Top 100 in the Nation." It also named the"21st Best Place to Live in the U.S." and one of the "Top 20 Places to Retire."

.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics ranked the area "3rd in the Nation in Job Growth."

The area offers a diversity of neighborhoods to suit every taste and budget, each with a unique personality. Residents enjoy all the hospitality of a small town combined with the amenities and modern infrastructure of a large city.  The County?s economy remains strong overall as indicated by steady job growth, low unemployment and increasing wages, according to a report released recently by the Economic Development Corporation (EDC). From 2002 to September 2005, the region gained approximately 30,000 jobs, exceeding the state and U.S. job growth rates for that period.
