We are seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join our Meningitis Laboratory in the Meningitis and Vaccine Preventable Diseases Branch, Division of Bacterial Diseases. This position is funded by the Atlanta Research & Education Foundation and is for an initial period of 1 year.

 

You will assist CDC scientists by performing a variety of lab experiments in support of research programs and projects.  Responsibilities will include ability to follow laboratory protocols and conduct microbiological and molecular biology procedures to accomplish laboratory research goals.  You will conduct experiments under direction of CDC senior scientists such as Real-time PCR, DNA sequencing, ELISA.  You will complete detailed summaries of experiments, including protocols followed and results obtained.  You will keep careful records of supplies/reagents necessary for the work.  You should be detail-oriented with good interpersonal and team skills.  Training will be provided and you will be encouraged to develop your scientific and organizational skills within the team.

You will have successfully completed studies in an accredited College or University leading to a Bachelor?s or Master degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or basic medical science.
