Works under the supervision of Laboratory Operations Supervisors. Performs inpatient and outpatient venipunctures on adults, children and infants, including micro-collection techniques. Participates in performing bedside testing procedures, data entry, and specimen processing and reception desk responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Collects blood and blood culture samples, setting priorities, understanding specimen requirements and using appropriate technique.
Performs bedside bleeding tests
Assists with front desk and specimen processor functions as needed.
Assist in training and orientation of new employees as requested
Understand Decedent Affairs procedures and assist with morgue issues.
Utilize cost containment measures
Follow laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
Utilize personal protective equipment according to laboratory procedure
Establish and maintain effective and respectful relationships with coworkers and other hospital employees
Be responsive to requests from laboratory management
Perform other duties as requested

This position is 32 hours per week. The hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00PM to 9:30PM plus every other weekend. Requirements: MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Formal phlebotomy training program
6-12 months experience
