Production Manager - Night Shift
Minimum eight years clinical laboratory experience and three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience required.
Responsible for the daily operation and testing activities in the laboratory for automated and manual test procedures on blood samples to assure the safety, quality, identity, purity and/or potency of the blood supply. Ensure compliance with ARCBS and NTRL directives, policies, procedures and regulations. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with SOPs, CFR and other applicable federal, state and local laws. Comply with safety policies and procedures in the work area, including the use of applicable protective equipment when necessary to prevent staff exposure to potentially infectious agents.
Responsible for the hiring, development, evaluation and supervision of assigned management and staff. Manage testing and production of the laboratory. Ensure smooth workflow.
Recognize and identify testing and equipment problems, errors and other potential problems that may adversely affect test performance or results. Ensure testing is performed accurately and efficiently. Notify appropriate management staff and Quality Control immediately of testing delays, problems or discrepant results. Trouble-shoot and implement corrective actions.
Ensure accurate, complete and legible records. Identify discrepancies and verify documentation performed by technologists/technicians and reviewed by supervisors. Review documentation for accuracy, validity and completeness.
Demonstrate knowledge in all procedures performed in the laboratory. Participate in continuing education programs and training/retraining as necessary. Coordinate training of staff with the Director, Education and Training and supervisor.
Understand and comply with applicable federal and state regulations, AABB Standards, and ARCBS directives pertaining to blood banking and safety. Adhere to quality assurance procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Participate in internal/external audits and inspections; develop and implement corrective action when required. Investigate and develop deviation reports. Determine root cause and corrective actions.
Coordinate and participate in evaluation, improvement, and implementation of new testing methodologies, equipment and laboratory software. Write, organize and maintain technical sections of departmental procedure manual.
Provide leadership and management oversight to supervisors and all testing staff during production hours. Assume responsibilities for the Director, Testing and Production as required. Frequent contact with NTL management, operations and Q&RA staff. Accountable for operational testing systems for up to 50 laboratory staff.
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, medical technology. Minimum eight years clinical laboratory experience and three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience required.
