WORK DAYS: Monday - Friday, rotating weekends and holidays

Promotes and contributes to the expertise in the lab by providing expert-level guidance on technical issues to a range of staff, from entry level to leads. Is the resource or go-to person on the state of the art in his/her area of expertise. Researches new emerging trends in lab services, protocols and processes. Advises management on desired changes. May contribute assessments of the skill level or the development of team members if requested. Develops policies, procedures and methods in accordance with accreditation requirements.

 

Requirements:

 The position of Senior Laboratory Specialist requires current registration as a Specialist in Micriobiolgy, SM (ASCP) and/or certification in Molecular Pathology, MT (ASCP) preferred. Experience in Molecular techniques is highly desirable. Incumbent must have a minimum of five years of recent related work experience in laboratory area of comparable complexity and services, exhibiting extensive and current knowledge of lab discipline. Must possess strong project management skills. Effective communication with all members of the health care team is essential. Experience in team process and problem solving highly desirable. Experience with a Laboratory Information System required.
