Specimen Processor

Our Denver practice has created an immediate opportunity for a part-time, and full-time Specimen Processor(s) to join our valuable 2nd shift team members (6 pm ? 2:30 am).  Each of these positions will be responsible for preparation of cytology specimens and routine lab maintenance.

Qualifications:  A high school diploma or equivalent;Strong data entry skills and attention to detail are required;Previous laboratory experience and knowledge of medical terminology a plus;Ability to file alpha/numeric;Ability to operate a pc, printer, copier and general office equipment; andMust be flexible, dependable, work well under pressure, meet daily high productivity standards, possess strong customer service skills, and have a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:  Accurately accession and process gynecological specimens and slides according to departmental policies and procedures;Opens and numbers specimens according to departmental policies and procedures;Contacts physician offices to obtain missing patient information, and documents appropriately;Follow proper procedures for specimen identification and/or rejection;Maintain cytology solutions and stains;Complete and maintain laboratory quality control logs pertaining to area;Maintain cytology slide files;Follow departmental quality assurance/quality control policies and procedures;Operate equipment according to proper procedures and performs maintenance as instructed; andPerforms related responsibilities as required or directed.
