JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Understands and implements operating policies and procedures.

- Collects a blood sample for Syphilis Testing.

- Conducts disclosure and post-disclosure counseling as needed and required.

- Provides appropriate and relevant referrals to client.

- Conducts a pre-test risk assessment with clients to obtain risk history and demographic information for reporting purposes.

- Processes sample in accordance with standard guidelines.

- Assesses client referral needs and makes referrals as needed during the counseling sessions; Documents all referrals made.

Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees
Attends Testing Counselors Meeting.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer/Software Skills & Abilities
Should have knowledge of Word Processing software.

Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
- Sensitivity to the issues surrounding HIV and AIDS.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Skill in communicating openly on sexual topics without prejudice.
- Must be primarily available to work on weekday evenings and weekends.
- Must have reliable transportation with liability insurance.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
- Current Full Phlebotomy Certification required.
- Los Angeles County or California State HIV Pre and Post Test
- Counselor Certification desired, but not required.
- Valid California driver?s license and proof of liability insurance.
