Systems / Software Architecture

Systems Architect who will be responsible for system architecture and 'big picture' oversight for development of new or enhanced products, ensuring compliance to architectural standards (including outsourced development work). Responsible for the evaluation of new technologies, trends and external products as well as making recommendations on how to effectively utilize these to meet the needs of the market. Responsible for overseeing the development of reference implementations utilizing new architectural components as well as rolling these out to development teams (education, mentoring). Will have ownership of defining/updating architectural standards. Expected to contribute at both the business unit and product levels regarding system and software architecture, technical direction of product development, technical evaluation of products, and the development and application of software engineering principles and processes that meet industry standards and applicable government regulations.

Primary responsibilities and accountability

?Responsible for defining, developing, documenting and overseeing the technical implementation of the software architecture surrounding advanced workflow products

?Responsible for documenting and communicating selected software architecture(s)using UML

?Develops technical strategies to ensure market place acceptance

?Responsible for demonstrating the technical and business feasibility of candidate software architectures

?Defines system performance metrics to support acceptance criteria

?Establishes and enforces development guidelines. Guidelines should include, but not be limited to: design and code standards, programming idioms, naming conventions, configuration management practices, and other items as identified.

?Provides technical requirements to outsourcing partners

?Provides technical guidance to internal R&D resources

?Serves as the corporate liaison and outsourcing partners

?Accountable for technical product delivery plans and timelines

?Investigates and recommends software development and analysis tools

?Investigates emerging software technologies and develops plans to incorporate emerging technologies into the architecture strategy

Education/Experience:

?BS in Computer Science or equivalent (or applicable experience)

?10 Years experience in healthcare IT system development/delivery

?Demonstrated commercial deployment of at least one software architecture for clinical healthcare IT products

?Demonstrated experience working as a software architect or a senior technical team leader in the clinical healthcare IT market

?Demonstrated leadership abilities in directing technical activities and documenting technical issues

?Knowledgeable in healthcare technology trends

?Familiar with healthcare IT management strategies/issues/concerns

?Experienced in hardware validation for design control

?Experienced in healthcare connectivity standards (i.e. HL7/IHE/DICOM, etc.)

?Ability to follow written procedures and document work accurately

?Experience with Java, VB, HTML, relational database design (SQL), web technologies, and service oriented architectures is preferred

?Knowledge in the clinical laboratory workflow is a plus
