CHIEF MEDICAL INFORMATION OFFICER (Pediatrician)

Are you that rare Pediatrician who can represent physician stakeholders in the implementation of electronic health information systems?

THE ORGANIZATION
This organization is one of the top three pediatric medical centers in the nation for 1)amount of money received from NIH in support of research and 2)annual patient visits.

 

DESCRIPTION OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You are a pediatrician in an active practice, and have unquestioned credibility with your peers.

 

You are experienced with the implementation of EHR and clinical information systems in a large hospital environment.  Epic experience strongly preferred.

 

You provide physician leadership to support the ongoing development and implementation of electronic health information systems related to the delivery of patient care.


REPORTING
The CMIO reports directly and jointly to the Senior Vice President for Clinical Care Delivery and to the Director of the Informatics Center/Vice President for Biomedical Informatics. The CMIO is engaged with the CIO in an essential strategic partnership.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the clinical information needs that enable this hospital system to achieve its strategic goals
- Lead the Clinical I.T. Advisory Committee to ensure the needs and requirements of the clinical community are met
- Promote the use of information technology in the clinical setting to improve safety, quality, patient and family satisfaction, efficiency in delivery of care, and integration with biomedical equipment
- Encourage support of the integration of clinical and research databases and seek solutions to meet this critical need
- Communicate broadly with the Medical Staff, both institutional and community based, to ensure that informatics needs of inpatient, outpatient, and community clinicians are understood and communicated to hospital system leadership

A major focus will be the support of efforts to track health care outcomes. The CMIO will work in partnership and collaboration with the Department of Information Services and the Quality & Transformation organization to translate clinician requirements into specifications for the enterprise clinical system implementation. The CMIO will work with the Departments of Pediatrics, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Patient Services, and Clinical Care Delivery to fully understand and communicate clinical care needs. The CMIO will serve as an integral member of the enterprise clinical system Implementation Team and one of the key leaders in institutional technology planning as part of the I.T. Leadership Team. The CMIO will be a member of the faculty of University's College Of Medicine based in the Medical Center. The physician recruited to this position will spend at least 70% of his or her time as CMIO, and is expected to participate actively in clinical care most of the rest of the time.
