Dental Hygienist- Part time

Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, as well as four major Children's specialty centers in Wilmington, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Pensacola.

The Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, with a long-established and excellent reputation in pediatric health care, draws a broadly diverse patient population. The hospital, supported in part through an endowment from the Nemours Foundation, continues to grow both regionally and nationally and is the tertiary care center for pediatrics within the Jefferson Health System.

The Dental Services Department, located within the Hospital, is seeking the right candidate for a Dental Hygienist position. The schedule for this position will be Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, three days a week.

 

Primary Function:

 

 

The primary function of the dental hygienist is to provide dental hygene services to patients.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

Performs chairside dental assisting.

Performs oral prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, oral examinations, charting and sealants on patients.

Takes, develops, mounts radiographs.

Responsible for current sterilization procedures and basic cleaning of dental units.

Assists dentists/specialists during operative procedures.

Instructs patients, parents, guardians, and nurses on oral hygiene.

Provides age and developmental appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.

Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement and working with department management to improve services provided.

Maintains complete and accurate dental records.

Other duties as assigned or requested.

 

Position Qualifications:

 

Education, Training and Experience

 

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene school.

One to two years working experience with children and/or handicapped.

 

Licenses, Registration, or Certifications

 

Must be licensed to practice dental hygiene in the state of Delaware.

CPR certified.
