Medical Director - UHN Inpatient Care Advocacy (Will relocate, but Texas Medical License Required)

 This position provides clinical leadership to a regional care coordination site for inpatient care throughout a five state area.  Medical Director activities primarily focus on support of the Care Coordination nurses in daily review activities and external interaction and communication with network physicians.

 

? Conducts daily and ongoing clinical review and evaluation of clinical care and services provided to plan members.

? Interacts, communicates, and collaborates with network and community physicians  regarding clinical care and services for enrollees.

? Uses performance data to guide interactions.

? Meets peer-to-peer intervention benchmarks.

? Documents case review findings, actions, and outcomes in accordance with Care Coordination policies.

? Conduct daily conferences (rounding) with Care Coordination team to identify delays in care, facilitate discharge planning, and develop follow up action to address care coordination issues.

? Is available and accessible to the Care Coordination team throughout the day to respond to clinical issues.

? Serves as a clinical resource, coach, and leader for Care Coordination team.

? Shares best practices with other medical directors and clinical leaders from other United Healthcare sites.

? Participates in weekly/monthly Care Coordination team meetings and rounds for communication, feedback, problem solving, staff training and development and sharing of program results.

? Monitors utilization reports identifying changes in utilization or access patterns and monitor overall trends on a regular basis.

? Participates in design and development of Care Coordination programs and national committee's requested.

 




? Excellent telephonic communication skills; excellent interpersonal communication skills.

? Ability to develop relationships with network and community physicians and other providers.

? Strong knowledge of managed care industry.

? Data analysis and interpretation skills.

? Ability to focus on key metrics.

? Strong presentation skills for both clinical and non clinical audiences. Familiarity with current medical issues and practices.

? Creative problem solving skills.

? Strong team player and team building skills.

? Unrestricted medical licensed physician; Board Certified in ABMS specialty

? 5+ years clinical practice experience.

? Supervisory skills including clinical mentoring and coaching skills.
