The Medical Director provides clinical supervision for Care Managers, oversees the review of inpatient hospitalization and other acute care services.  Keeps current regarding prevalent treatment policies, procedures, guidelines and philosophies.  Provides peer to peer review. Reviews records for appeal requests and writes responses.  Provides consultation services and inservice activities to various departments, customers and accounts.  Participates in the credentialing and privileging of psychiatric clinicians.  Participates and provides leadership in various Quality Improvement activities, committees and audits.  Liaison with Provider Services, participates in Provider Credentialing, Oversight and Appeals Committees.  Other duties as assigned by Sr. Medical Director. 


Medical Degree with an active unencumbered license.
Board certified in psychiatry.
Minimum of five years of experience as a practicing physician and three years of supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of short-term outpatient treatment methodologies, case management, and peer review.
Past experience in managed care strongly preferred.
Child/Adolescent specialty preferred.
