Minot AFB Medical Records Auditor -Health Care Analyst 3/4

Conduct health care records audits and quality control activities to include: accuracy, timeliness, and completeness reports; identify and report inconsistencies in medical record coding; recommend, develop and follow-up on corrective action plans All work conforms to requirements established by: American Medical Association (AMA), American Hospital Association (AHA), and Center for Medicare and Medical Services (CMS) coding practices for International Classification of Diseases Version 9 and 10, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT-4), Evaluation and management Terminology (E/M) Level Coding, and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS). Selected candidates must adhere to the MTF employee health and immunization requirements.Work is conducted in Military Treatment Facilities at the following locations: Barksdale AFB, LA; Beal AFB, CA; Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ; Dyess AFB, TX; Ellsworth AFB, SD; Holloman AFB, NM; Langley AFB, VA; Minot AFB, ND; Moody AFB, GA; Mountain Home AFB, ID; Nellis AFB, NV; Offutt AFB, NE; Seymour Johnson AFB, NC; Shaw AFB, SC; and Whiteman AFB, MO.
Utilizes specialized knowledge of a scientific or medical disciplines to collect, abstract, code, analyze, or interpret statistical and research data. Uses knowledge of statistics and analytical software packages to prepare reports and design biological studies. Assists with client data analysis activities. Conducts survey research and design, data and database management, and data validation.
The following are the Basic Qualifications for this position:
Bachelor's degree in a related field; HS diploma and 4 years of experience is acceptable in lieu of degree
Candidate must be certified in one of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CSS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CSS-P), American Academy of Professional Coder (AAPC); Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam for CPCs, CPC-H (Hospital), CHC-P (Payer); Certified Professional Medical Coder Curriculum (PMCC) instructor or have completed a Health Information Management/ Medical Record Program; eligible to sit for either the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) national exam for Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) = (4) year academic program; records Health Information Technician (RHIT) = (2) year academic program
Minimum of two years of coding experience in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, E/M level coding and HCPCS in a hospital or ambulatory healthcare setting
Excellent verbal and written communications
Two years experience using personal computers
Demonstrated ability to work independently and without direct supervision
Experience in the following areas is an asset:
Composite Health Care System (CHCS) or Armed Forces Healthcare Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA)
Prior supervisory experience of medical records coders
