DESCRIPTIONWe are currently seeking physicians to join our clinics in San Diego and surrounding Southern California Counties. Be a part of our exciting growth and expansion!

U.S. HealthWorks offers specialized services, tailored to the needs of each employer that follow employment events from job application to case settlement. We provide services at our network of freestanding medical centers and, on-site, at employer locations.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES
Apply and modify the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide primary patient care. Work closely with Center Manager & Regional Director to ensure comprehensive delivery of services and quality patient care. Cooperate with management in the direction of all clinic activities to ensure accomplishment of all clinic objectives. Evaluate medical procedures and everyday situations and suggest ways to improve delivery of service and profitability.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of professional medical practices related to treatment of work-related illness and injuries.Knowledge of organizational and medical policies, regulations and procedures.Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe medical environment.Skill in developing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining medical quality assurance and quality control standards.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the general public.Ability to react calmly, objectively and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to communicate clearly with patients, staff and clients.Good telephone manners and etiquette.Strong organizational skills; orientation to detail.Excellent people skills. Ability to motivate and work effectively with others.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide medical treatment of work-related illnesses and injuries.Chart all patient transactions in accordance with company policies and procedures.May supervise Physician Assistants to assure compliance of all applicable regulations. If Applicable instruct and direct the physician assistant in the assistant's duties, oversee and check the assistant's work and provide general direction to the assistant.Be available within 15 minutes either in person or by telecommunication for consultation with the assistant.Review and evaluate patient services provided by the physician assistant preferably within 48 hours (but not more than 7 days) from information in patient charts or records. Review may either be in person or by telecommunication.Supervise no more than two physician assistants at the same time.
Prescribe, administer and dispense legel drugs only in accordance with state and federal statutes.Assure that an alternate physician is available to supervise if you are absent.Communicate and work with medical staff to ensure coordinated efforts for the provision of high quality medical treatment and client service.
Assist Center Medical Director in identifying, analyzing and resolving work problems.Evaluate the effectiveness of existing clinical methods and procedures and suggest improvements.May participate in the orientation of new staff physicians, physician assistants and residents by explaining administrative and clinical procedures. Comply with ethical, legal & professional issues.Comply with applicable regulations and with corporate policies and procedures.Comply with quality assurance for all medical issues and assist in the solution of any medical problems.Contribute solutions to intra- and inter-departmental problems.Support efforts of administrative and marketing personnel to secure new and maintain existing business as required.Resolve client grievances regarding medical issues.Protect clinic assets and property against loss or waste through negligence or dishonesty. Participate in implementing special medical projects and services, such as on-site services.Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.


WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a clinical office environment. Involves frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Contact may involve dealing with angry, upset or uneasy people.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Normal or corrected vision to levels that allow performance of tasks inherent to medical practice and common office work. Hearing within the acceptable range for telephone contacts. Requires working under pressure during emergency situations or during irregular hours.
REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION
Degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from a U.S. accredited institution.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSE
Current license to practice medicine in the State .
Current certificate to supervise X-ray technicians.
Current certificate to supervise Physician Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners, as required.
Current CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE from the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Department of Justice.

EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice or General Practice preferred.
