 Job Description

 

 

The Nemours Children's Clinic of Orlando is expanding and has a current opening for a Clinical Data Abstractor.  The abstractor?s primary duties will include: transferring historical patient information from paper chart into the appropriate section of the electronic medical record system (EMR) by scanning or direct keyboard/mouse entry; acting as a liaison with the EMR Director of HIM or HIM Manager, and with each clinic, to improve data capture processes and staff knowledge of scanning and abstracting procedures; assisting in the orientation of EMR with HIM staff and clinical staff as needed; provide backup technical support to include assisting Clinical Informatics Specialist as necessary; and, maintaining a 98% level of data accuracy.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent; with preference for a Registered Health Information Tech or Medical Transcription certification as well as 2 years experience in a health care environment. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and surgical instruments is required with knowledge of CPT coding and ICD-9-CM preferred. Must be able to type 40 WPM and be proficient in Microsoft Windows applications with knowledge of document imaging systems in a Windows NT environment.
