EMR Systems Analyst

Joslin Diabetes Center is an internationally recognized diabetes treatment, research and education institution affiliated with Harvard Medical School and headquartered in Boston, MA. Joslin is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes and improving the lives of people with diabetes through its cutting edge basic and clinical research, patient care programs for children and adults, and through programs and publications that improve the care of diabetes worldwide.

The Electronic Medical Record Systems Analyst is responsible for querying the EMR database to produce meaningful administrative and clinical research-related reports. Assists in programming Clinic business rules into EMR templates, supports users of the EMR via phone, in person, and in formal training sessions, and leads the biweekly template Steering Committee meeting to help guide the direction of future programming initiatives. Responsible for logging enhancement requests and bugs in the production database environment, and for all aspects of development in the production system. Also, assists the EMR Manager in the ongoing implementation of the EMR to business units of the Clinic not already using it.

Qualifications:A Bachelor?s degree in a health-related or computer field. Two to three years experience in health or computer-related field with demonstrated progressive responsibilities. Familiarity with development-team environments. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to identify projects that need to be accomplished, effectively managing multiple priorities. Proficiency with popular PC applications (Excel, MS Office, MS Word, etc.) and experience writing/executing SQL statements. Familiarity with project management concepts like GAANT charts, projects milestones, deadlines. Use of SQL Server databases from an application-developer, rather than end-user, perspective. One or more years using programming languages in a job role. Must be able to work independently, set priorities, break down complex business practices into application functionality, be able to demonstrate sound programming techniques, and master multiple tasks simultaneously.
