HIM Coder

Responsible for coding and abstracting inpatient and outpatient medical records by adhering to established guidelines. Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Requirements

Minimum: Completion of a Medical Terminology course and/or ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding class

Advanced computer and word processing skills; Ability to successfully operate encoding and abstract software; Ability to communicate effectively

Minimum: One (1) year of related experience
Desired: Previous hospital experience
