INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CLINICAL INFORMATICS SUPPORT
Schedule:
Part-time 40 hrs per pay period, various shifts, variouis days & weekends
Description:
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CLINICAL INFORMATICS SUPPORT provides support (phone or in-person) to Caregivers and Physicians for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Acts as the frontline Customer Service representative for EMR.
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with SCMC policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas:
1. Electronic Medical Record
a. Promptly responds to Caregiver and Physician calls/questions
b. Assists Caregivers and Physicians to increase their understanding and effective use of EMR; assistance may be via phone or may require in-person assist
c. Listens effectively
d. Gives clear directions and reinforces EMR teaching
e. Clear, precise communication of reported issues via 'change of shift reporting', 'logging of all issues' in SCMC approved issue tracking application, and to off-site Clinical Informatics Coordinator/s
f. Analysis and decision making on which issues need escalation immediately versus those that can be reported and/or addressed when the Clinical Informatics Coordinator/s are on-site.
g. Follows directions provided by Clinical Informatics Coordinator/s, Clinical Informatics Director and other Healing Health Supervisory staff
h. Provides support to Learning Team as appropriate
i. Provides assistance with testing of new software, devices, content and forms
2. Promotes and fosters Caregiver and Physician independent use of EMR, respects privacy, and maintains professional approach when addressing questions and reporting issues.
3. Technical skills:
a. Maintains competency in all EMR applications with greatest focus on FirstNet and CareNet applications.
b. Operates devices safely; works closely with IS staff to report, troubleshoot and repair/replace failed devices
c. May provide support to password management and/or addition of content at the direction of Clinical Informatics Coordinator/s or Clinical Informatics Director
Requirements:
Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent required. Advanced/continued education in health care field preferred. Willingness to take additional courses as requested.
Certification: None
Job Knowledge and Experience: Basic knowledge and ability to perform specified tasks. Knowledge of acute-care, patient-care processes. A minimum of one year experience in an acute patient care setting in a position which required engagement in direct care provision, e.g. Unit Secretary position managing the communication of physician orders to various departments process or CNA position which provided direct care and assisted with care activities with various disciplines. Knowledge of medical terminology, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills (both oral and written) required. Experience utilizing a clinical information system in the care process is preferred, e.g. order management, documentation of care activities on-line, etc. Experience in utilizing computer applications to assist work processes is required, e.g. creating and/or editing Word documents, locating and opening files in directories, email, use of clinical information system, etc. Must maintain knowledge of and practice safe body mechanics according to SCMC policies.
Computer Literacy: Ability to learn and apply basic and intermediate computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages, use of multiple applications to facilitate completion of work and communication of issues.
