Medical Records Clerk (5140)
Job Description: Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a Medical Records Clerk to join our team in Huntington, WV.
Job Responsibilities:
* Pull all requested medical records promptly and facilitates accurate tracking of medical records.
* Sort, alphabetize and file appropriately all single sheets and medical records daily.
* Perform quality assurance checks on medical records.
* Assist in copying medical records daily as requested.
* Prepare medical records to be copied by outside copying service, if applicable.
* Request medical records from other health care provider's offices and / or institutions when necessary.
* Open and direct incoming mail.
* Answer and direct telephone inquiries.
* Destroy inactive records following established procedures for retention and destruction.
* Use spare time to assist in work-related activities such as preparing new charts.
* Possess the knowledge and understanding of state and federal regulations on how to handle medical record requests.
* Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Required Skills:
Ability to stand, reach, bend and squat repeatedly during course of day
Ability to perform tasks requiring occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
Works independently, in a safe and appropriate manner
Demonstrates both problem-solving and problem-prevention skills
Strong time management skills
Works carefully and precisely, with a strong attention to detail
Communicates effectively with internal and external customers (patients, co-workers, physicians, etc)
Maintains good attendance and reports to work on time
Desired Skills:
Previous experience in a health care setting
Minimum Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
