Project Manager - Social Marketing/Public Relations (3434)

Northrop Grumman/CITS is seeking a project lead to support health communications and marketing projects with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention?s (CDC) National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, Behavioral Science and Health Education team. Working atmosphere is fast-paced and incumbent must be self-motivated. Task will include the following: 80% Communications Planning, Consulting, and Execution .

 

1)Work closely with scientific staff to provide consultation about communications projects, assess their communication needs and determine how to best meet their needs. This will include developing and executing social marketing outreach plans, conducting research, writing audience-appropriate content for brochures, websites, fact sheets, and other collateral and making recommendations about how these materials should be distributed. Some projects will require assessment of existing materials, while others will require the ability to develop concepts for new materials.

 

2)Work with a team of graphic and web designers, writer/editors and behavioral scientists to build project teams with these professionals in order to meet the needs of scientific programs. Facilitate production of printed materials with the graphics and government printing office projects, as needed.

 

3)Projects may require the use of an outside advertising or public relations agency. Will work closely with agency staff to ensure products and materials are meeting the needs of scientific program staff. Facilitate meetings with scientists and agency staff in order to ensure final products reflect the views of the agency and scientists and meet CDC?s brand identity standards. Some projects might include website development, brochures, posters, CD-rom presentation, photo shoot direction or media materials development.

 

4)All projects require the ability to ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner, work independently and be self-directed, while also having the ability to contribute to team efforts.

 

20% Brand Identity - Become familiar with CDC's brand identity standards and serve as a resource to program staff. Complete CDC logo licensing documentation and serve as liaison between NCBDDD program staff and CDC's branding and technology transfer offices.

 

Required Skills:

 

? Strong project management and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working on and coordinating workflow with project teams. Experience working with diverse groups of people, including subject-matter experts / scientists, graphic designers, web developers, writers and professional  printers. Experience developing and executing social marketing outreach programs. 

 

 ? Knowledge of low-literacy writing principles. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply social marketing principles to all projects. (Knowledge of evaluation theory would be helpful.) Positive attitude and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities is necessary.

 

? Prior experience working for or managing projects with contracting companies such as advertising and public relations agencies and professional printers. Strong background in health care industry, public health or government agencies preferred. Ability to work independently and be self directed, while also participating effectively as part of a team is mandatory. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create presentations with PowerPoint.

 

Qualifications: Additional Desired Skills/Pluses:

? Experience with public health communication campaigns or working for an advertising or public relations agency (with proven track record in managing projects on either) is preferred. Experience conducting program evaluation research is desired.

 

Educational Requirements: ? BS/BA required, MS/MA/MPH  desired, Major: Marketing/Advertising; Health

Communications; Public Relations ? Master?s a  plus. 2-3 years experience or bachelors plus 5 years or more in lieu of  the degree.
