Supervisor of Health Information Management

The supervisor of HIM under the supervision of the Director oversees the general operations of the

health information management department. These operations may include the release of

information, record processing, physician's incomplete area, scanning and microfilming, coding and

abstracting and transcription services.

?

1.? Responsible for staff coverage for critical areas of the department when there

are staffing vacancies.

2.?

Responsible and accountable for overseeing the daily operations/work-flows for

the main HIM area.

3.?

May complete all deposition questions and affidavits for the release of

information. May also be required to attend court as needed to testify for the

original medical record.

4.? Accepts responsibility and accountability for operations of assigned functional

areas in the Director's absence.

5.? Accepts responsibility for direct supervision of assigned staff including assisting

in interviewing applicants, hiring staff, training, counseling and termination of

staff when appropriate. Acts immediately to resolve any Human Resources

issues with staff by providing guidance and counseling, as necessary.

6.? Identifies and manages any staff performance/productivity related issues.

Immediately informs Director of potential or necessary disciplinary action.

7.?

Accurately measures and evaluates staff performance, productivity and quality

measures, and assures that staff is following and meeting departmental

standards.

8.?

Identifies and implements changes regarding policy, productivity and quality

measures, and assures that staff performance improvements related to work-flow

efficiencies and operations.

9.?

Maintains effective communication with internal and external customers. IX.

Interacts as a team member representing Health Information Management and

serves as a member of designated committees and attends meetings as directed.

10.?

Assists with special projects as assigned by management.

Requirements:

High School Diploma

Registered Health Information Administrator

Registered Health Information Technician

1 Year of Experience
