MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, WA (south of Seattle), is seeking a Coder. ? The Coder is responsible for accurately assigning codes to diagnoses and procedures, using the ICD-9-CM Disease and Operation and CPT4 codebooks as needed. ?He/she is also responsible for completing various fields on the computerized abstract, performing quantitative analysis of all inpatient and outpatient medical records, and assisting quality assurance record review for selected medical staff committees. This position requires analysis and attention to detail. ?Other requirements include: High school graduate or equivalent, one year of experience in ICD-9-CM coding in a medical records department, record technician accreditation preferred, certified coding specialist preferred.
