The Coding Specialist provides accurate and timely assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes to inpatient, Day Surgery, and Emergency Department medical records for the collection and indexing of quality health information. 
QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent ; Some college preferred Accredited Record Technologist (ART), Registered Record Administrator (RRA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, computers, and encoding software; 3M encoding software knowledge preferred One (1) year experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding in a hospital and/or clinic setting Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Must be detail oriented, possess good problem solving skills, and have legible handwriting
