Director of Access Services-Ambulatory Care -

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provides coordinated administrative oversight of patient access services that support Practice and Hospital ambulatory operations including registration, scheduling and insurance verification. Ensures excellence in customer service in all areas.

 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides administrative support to facilitate the efficient delivery of support services in the ambulatory care settings.

? Determines the need for and allocation of staffing, space, fiscal and material resources for assigned departments, in collaboration with department managers.
? Enhances and strengthens the collaborative working relationships between the Ambulatory Care Center, duPont Pediatrics, off-site satellite practices and other Hospital or Practice departments.
? Directs the resolution of problems regarding staffing, utilization of facilities, equipment or supplies and customer service issues.


2. Participates in the planning and directs the improvement of assigned facilities, including construction or renovation of structures and purchase of major equipment.

? Identifies and evaluates new technology that could improve efficiency and enhance service delivery.
? Assures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including JCAHO standards, Life Safety Code, CLIA, Americans With Disabilities Act and Clean Air Act.

3. Demonstrates financial stewardship in daily operations and in planning processes.

? Oversees preparation and monitoring of budgets.
? Demonstrates cost conscious awareness by comparing and analyzing department expenditures monthly and effectively utilizing staff, space and supplies.
? Works to maximize cash collections.  Reviews, revises, and monitors scheduling, registration and charging practices.  Provides regular feedback to supervisors to address problems in a timely and effective manner.  Works closely with managed care and the central business office to identify problem areas and to participate in problem-solving solutions.
? Develops and monitors metrics to assess performance.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

 

I. Education, Training and Experience

? Graduate level degree in Management/Business/Hospital Administration/Health Care/Nursing.  Individuals with extraordinary experience may be considered at the Bachelor?s Degree level.
? Demonstrated progressive management experience in ambulatory healthcare delivery systems.
