Director of Business Development Health Sciences

This position represents a unique opportunity to play a key role in a dynamic young organization, and be part of the growing biotechnology frontier in the State of Arizona. Arizona Technology Enterprises, was formed to commercialize the diverse intellectual property portfolio of ASU.  ASU?s Health Sciences portfolio includes cutting edge technology in medical devices, molecular biology, pharmaceuticals, biomaterials, nanotechnology, bioengineering, and bioanalytical systems.  Arizona Technology Enterprises will become a national leader in technology commercialization through licensing, strategic alliances, forming start-up and spinout companies and joint ventures. 

 

The Director of Business Development ? Health Science Ventures, working closely with the Vice President & Managing Director of Health Science Ventures shall be responsible for (1) commercializing the Company?s healthcare and bioscience technology portfolio in order to maximize the Company?s revenue and return on investment, and (2) working with ASU and NAU faculty and Research Departments to encourage innovation and assist them with healthcare and bioscience-related technology transfer and development initiatives. 

 

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

An undergraduate or graduate (preferred) degree in a life science discipline,  an MBA or JD., or the equivalent  related experience, three years of demonstrated experience in structuring and negotiating transactions involving health care and bioscience-related intellectual assets (e.g., patent and technology licensing, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and ?spin-outs?.)  Preferred experience working with University relationships and agreements, or in a University setting, particularly in the area of University technology transfer, experience evaluating the risks and returns of business transactions, including market assessment and financial valuation.
