Mercy Medical Center Merced has been building a rich history of care in our community for more than 100 years. We've grown from a small one-story wooden structure into a major healthcare provider with a 172-bed main campus, Outpatient Center, Cancer Center, Surgical and Diagnostic Center and several rural clinics. And we are still writing our story. Mercy is currently designing a 185-bed replacement facility in North Merced. Scheduled to open in 2009, this landmark building will offer the latest in facility design and technology.

JOB SUMMARY:  Under the general direction of the VP of Medical Affairs and within the framework of broad objectives and polices established and approved by Mercy Medical Center Merced, plans, directs, and manages the hospital Risk Management Program designed to detect, evaluate, and reduce risks and losses associated with patient, employee, or visitor injuries, property loss or damages, and other sources of potential organizational liability.  Interfaces with all level of personnel as well as representatives from various local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.  Is an integral member of the Hospital?s Safety Committee.  Maintains a professional relationship with all staff and physicians.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse or other Healthcare Professional.  Minimum of three years experience in Risk Management (Three years experience in general medical/surgical nursing preferred but not required).  Must possess technical and professional skills.  Ability to properly use typewriter, personal computer, and normal office machines.  Should possess managerial skills with emphasis placed on the areas of statistics, managed care issues, and financial arrangements.  Pleasant personality with the ability to meet and work with people easily.  Good organizational and planning skills with a sensitivity and ability to anticipate the needs of others.
