Health Care Workforce Director

This position is responsible for implementation of a focused plan to effectively address the workforce recruitment, retention and training needs of the health care sector. Efforts will be coordinated with the agency?s jobs development, public policy and research efforts.

 Job Requirements

 

Education/Experience:  College degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in health care, workforce development, economic development, business marketing or policy analysis.

 

Skills:  General knowledge of health care industry, workforce, economic development and community infrastructure issues.  Strong written and verbal communications. Ability to quickly understand and effectively convey technical concepts, effective under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and good research and analytical skills. Strong project management skills and experience. Ability to provide significant assistance with fundraising.

 Primary Position Responsibilities & Activities

Directs day-to-day operations of the GNO, Inc. Health Care Sector Initiative and its implementation of a new regional workforce delivery system for the industry that includes integration of workforce outreach, recruitment, assessment, training and regional placement functions; coordinates the activities and roles of participating partners serving on the consortium including business members, community and technical colleges, workforce investment boards, local chamber and economic development organizations, support services, trainers and other local and state agencies. Manages operations that include project management, assistance with fundraising, coordinating communication among consortium members, timely scheduling of meetings, assignment of and follow-up on tasks and responsibilities of Committee members and others; development and monitoring of contracts and agreements with partners; tracking initiative outcomes and conducting periodic evaluations of the initiative. Develops expertise on the industry, identifies and tracks issues of importance to the industry, creates position papers, develops communications strategies to communicate and advance the industry?s views. Develops and maintains relationships with region?s major employers and recruits to participate in the workforce initiative including marketing, outreach, recruitment, assessment, training and hiring of program participants.
