The Healthcare Technical Writer will be directly involved within the Federal Health Architecture program with various lead partners developing a variety of public health interoperability use cases and writing additional technical documentation associated with the FHA. The successful candidate will create use case processes for various interoperability scenarios and may perform detailed analyses on public health business processes. The candidate may also be required to research and write techncal documentation, including white papers and public presentations. He/she will work with FHA partners and external SME's to facilitate use case development through FHA and ONC initiatives. Additional duties include:

-Reports to the FHA Program Manager
-Attends and provides input at Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) meetings
-Attends and provides input at Healthcare Information Security and Privacy Council (HISPC) meetings
-Attends and provides input at functions related to the National Health Information Network (NHIN)
-Developing and maintaining a use case methodology which is specifically aligned to the business needs of FHA stakeholders.
-Creating use case task forces and developing use cases from the ONC-aligned methodology

-Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration or related field or equivalent experience.

-Solid planning, organization, time-management, and analytical skills are a must, as are experiences facilitating workgroups and/or committees.

-Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience related to military or public health programs is preferred.

-Should be knowledgeable about operations of DOD, VA, and/or HHS public health programs, such as TRICARE, FHEB, and VISTA. Strong working knowledge of public healthcare operations and processes.

-Proven understanding of public health EHR systems such as VISTA is desirable. In-depth expertise with specific vendor EHR products (such as Epic, Siemens, McKesson, MEDITECH, and WorldVista) is desirable. Experience with PACS and inpatient or ambulatory EHR's is highly desirable.

-Energetic and highly motivated with a commitment to excellence. Commitment to the field of healthcare IT.

-Knowledge of healthcare standards and compliance guidelines, such as those of HL7 & HIPAA
-Experience with clinical terminologies such as LOINC, SNOMED, MedDRA and UMLS
-Experience in medical vocabulary standardization desired
-RHIT, RHIA, or CPHIMS certification is desirable.
